Archer C2600 after 7 days, CPU load increases significantly with no network activity

Hi,
just got an Archer C2600 Router a few weeks ago and it has been working great. However I have noticed that for the first 6-7 days, the CPU load is around 3-13% typically depending on network activity. Then after 7 days, it reports CPU load to be 52%+ even though there is virtually no activity on the network and it never drops back below this until I do a reboot. Then it sits happily at the 3-13% again.
Is there something wrong with the router? Anyone else noticed this or can explain what is goinf on?
Cheers.
