Hello everyone,

I am experiencing a very frustrating issue with my TP-Link AX3000 4-Stream Wi-Fi 6 Router and an external USB hard drive.

I have a 4TB hard drive connected via USB to the router, and I am trying to view the multimedia content on my TVs using the router's Media Server/DLNA function.

The Problem: Not all folders and files are appearing on my TVs. I have never encountered this problem before, and I don't know what is causing it.

Details of the Issue:

  • The hard drive is 4TB, and I have always been able to see all the files previously.

  • I can only see the content I need on my TV by manually selecting and deselecting folders one by one within the router's USB/Media Server settings.

  • If I select all the shared folders in the router settings, only two folders are displayed on the TV. This is very confusing and frustrating.

  • I can see all the folders and files correctly when accessing the drive from my computers (via SMB/Samba), but I need to be able to use the TV's media player.

  • I have looked through the router's menu, but I can't find any additional configuration options to fix this.

It's a complete hassle having to constantly go into the router settings to select/deselect folders just to view specific media content on my TVs.

Has anyone else experienced this with the TP-Link AX3000 or a similar router? Any advice on how to get the Media Server to properly scan and display all the selected folders would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I had a similar problem (BE230) but i fixed it by buying an Apple TV 4K and installing the Infuse app on it.

@rane61 Thank you for your response, but I believe there must be another solution. I have many latest-generation televisions at home and I have never had any problems until now… I hope I won’t have to buy five more devices. Llorando

Hello@Serghy ,

Welcome to our community.

May I know the model and hardware version of your router? AX3000 may be the WiFi specification of your router.

How to find the model number of your TP-Link device

How to find the hardware version on a TP-Link device

You mentioned that you have never encountered this anomaly before. Do you mean that you can use the TVs to access all files on the USB drive via the router?

Have you changed any settings on the drive or TVs recently?  For example, you may update the TV's OS version. Or change the file format on the drive.

As you noted, the PC can correctly locate all folders and files. There aren't many settings that can be modified on the router's Media sharing. You may need to check the settings on your TVs or consult Technical Support for advice.

You can also download a different media player to see if you can open the file normally.

Best Regards.
