Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 800.0.18

VX800V - If I enable WPS-Slider the Router freezes and reboots.

After the reboot the WPS Button is still disabled.

So there is no possibility to join the easymesh network with a new bought repeater over the WPS Button.

I have an additional RE700X Repeater that is already a member of the easymesh network.

If I push the WPS Button in the GUI there, the device reboots as well with the following logs:

Software Version: 1.3.10 Build 20250817 Rel. 54331

2026-03-11 19:42:39 wps:2.4G WPS timed out. Failed to receive WPS message from the RootAP.

Welcome to our community.

 

Have you changed settings on the modem recently? Like a firmware update.

Was the first RE700X added before the settings were changed?

 

For the new RE700X, please take a hard reset and add it via 5G or Web interface.

  @Joseph-TP Hi Joseph, I updated the vx800v to the latest Version. The RE700x is a easymesh member for a Longer Time. Maybe for one year. Normally I enable WPS only, if I need IT. I bought another RE700x and all I want to do is joining the easymesh Network. But I cant do this, because of the Situation i discribed. If I enable it on the Web-Gui, the Router stops responding and reboots. Then after the reboot WPS is still disabled. This is the only Bug I have.  Apart from that the easymesh Network runs smooth, fast and stable.

Hello @_Ch-ris_,

 

What are the firmware versions for the older RE700X and the newer RE700X?

 

Beside the WPS button, have you tried adding the new RE700X via Web scanning?  Please take a hard reset for the RE700X before reinstalling. When you add the new RE700X, please temporarily power off the old RE700X.

  @Joseph-TP Hi Joseph,

 

the joining to the easymesh network over the webscan method, you explained, worked like a charm.

I didn't knew tp-link put further options to the joining process. In the past WPS was the only joining option I had.

So I chose this way. But nice there are now other ways of joining the easymesh network.

So thanks for your nice support. The new RE700X has joined the easymesh network successfully. And it is working flawless.
Nevertheless the WPS Problem is curious and still a mandatory problem.
