Archer AX72 and AX-53 auto update not working
I've seen a post of the same issue with Archer AX55. The probable cause of the failure being that the network was in use between 03:00-05:00 understood too. However, nowadays this is a huge problem. Why? Because of the amount of IoT devices we currently have: cameras, vaccum robots, on-off IoT light switches; etc.
My suggestion is: TP-Link should change the firmware code to force the upgrade in these time intervals and, the tech person who programmed the router for auto update will be aware of that!
Much obliged!

TP-Link automatic firmware updates typically occur during off-peak hours, generally between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM local time. This schedule prevents network disruptions during the day, though some models may allow you to view or adjust these timing windows through the TP-Link Tether or Deco apps or their WebGUI.
This doesn't mean that if the network is in use between 03:00-05:00 (for example), the Auto-update feature will fail.

You can observe this feature behavior over time and check if it's working, once you've updated manually to the latest FW release version.
TBH, I disabled the Audo-update feature a long time ago, since some of the new FW releases were immature or not refined enough, to be released in production.
As for the HomeShield Security+ feature, I suppose you're referring to the Tether app — contact your local support for assistance with that — here.
