Deco XE75pro firmware 1.5 20260603 rel 15804 breaks VPN
Using the above with NordVPN, token access, and then listing clients in the Deco that I want to go via VPN.
Unfortunately the above firmware has broken vpn support.
I've tried the following work arounds
Manual DNS configured in Deco
Disabled sip/alg in Deco Nat forwarding
Removed all vpn configs and then created again within deco.
Changed deco from router mode to access point, rebooted, then switched back to router. Rebooted again to hopefully clear tables.
Nothing has worked so far.
Thanks
Chris

Just in case anyone experiences similar problems; I've found a workaround:
To recap I'm using Nord VPN which is configured within the Deco, then when connected to the service whatever I want to route via the VPN would be chosen from the list of clients connected via Deco's WiFi. For example, laptop, tablet etc.
Since updating the Deco I now have to ensure the laptop or tablet etc is setup manually to choose a DNS.
I'm using 8.8.8.8 Google's resolver. If I do that it fixes the connection issues when using a VPN.
Cheers

Hi,
Usually, you can refer to the instructions below to troubleshoot if the VPN feature is not working on the Deco.
Troubleshooting VPN Issues on Deco
Please confirm the following information if the same phenomenon persists.
1. Have you configured a VPN Client on the Deco? NordVPN OpenVPN or NordVPN WireGuard VPN?
2. What's the VPN connection status in the Deco App?
3. How many Deco nodes do you have? Please describe your network diagram and send me(@Solla-topee) your Deco's WAN IP via a private message.
Best Regards

Update on Sep 3, 2026.
If the NordVPN connections on Deco mesh units were working and have suddenly stopped functioning (timing out or remaining stuck at the "Connecting" status), it is very likely that the specific VPN server node your router was configured to use has just undergone scheduled maintenance and IP migration on NordVPN's infrastructure. According to NordVPN's official update schedule, a major global server infrastructure overhaul is rolling out from July through the end of the year.
Workaround:
1. Use "Custom/Setup manually" Instead of the Predefined NordVPN Option
- In the Deco App (VPN Client settings), we recommend adding the connection as a Custom profile (Set up manually) rather than using the automated "NordVPN" preset list. This allows you to import fresh configuration files directly for newly verified servers.
- For more details, refer to: How to set up NordVPN OpenVPN manually on TP-Link Wireless Router
2. Select "Verified" Nodes from NordVPN's Manual Setup Page
- Log in to your NordVPN account dashboard in a web browser and navigate to the Manual Setup / OpenVPN configuration section.
- Avoid downloading bulk .zip server archives without filtering, as they may contain servers currently undergoing maintenance.
- Check the server list and ensure you only choose and download configuration files (.ovpn) for servers that display the "Verified" badge. These nodes are verified to be fully upgraded, online, and stable.
3. Verify Your NordVPN Service Credentials
- Remember that manual router connections require your dedicated Service Credentials (a unique username and password generated inside your NordVPN account dashboard under Advanced configuration / Manual setup), not your primary email login.
- Note: If you recently enabled Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) or updated security settings on your Nord account, your service credentials password may have been regenerated automatically.
Official Reference: For more details regarding this infrastructure migration, please refer directly to NordVPN's announcement: https://nordvpn.com/en/blog/nordvpn-server-upgrade/

Thank you for your replies. Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
I have 3 XE75 Pro Deco units in use.
Yes I have configured a VPN client on the Deco: NordVPN OpenVpn.
I have used a config file .ovpn from the verified NordVPN server list. I've tried 4 different ones.
Within the Deco app it shows as having connected okay to NordVPN.
However whatever device I add to the Deco app client list that should then send traffic from that client via the VPN simply results in that device having no internet access.
Credentials for NordVPN are up to date. I am using an access token from them in the Deco app. I have created a new token just in case there were problems.
Unfortunately I still cannot get VPN to work with the latest firmware.
I use the VPN feature daily. So I can confirm that it was working the day before the Deco's got upgraded.
Thanks
Chris
