Archer GE550 v2.0 — QoS bufferbloat issue
Hi, I just bought the Archer GE550 v2.0 (firmware 1.2.0) one day ago, and I already ran into a serious problem.
Whenever anything is uploading, the whole connection becomes very laggy and unstable — web pages stall, video calls break up, and it feels worse than my phone's mobile data, even though the speed number is still high.
I measured the latency during upload, and it is bad no matter what I do with QoS:
- Idle (nothing running): ~70 ms
- While uploading, QoS OFF: ~1930 ms
- While uploading, QoS ON (upload limit 130): ~971 ms
- While uploading, QoS ON (upload limit 70): ~760 ms
So even with QoS on and the upload limit set low, the latency still jumps to around 0.8–1 second. Turning QoS on and adjusting it does not fix the lag.
For a router sold as a "gaming router," this is a big issue right out of the box. Could you please help, or release a firmware fix? Thank you.
Device: Archer GE550 v2.0
Firmware: 1.2.0 Build 20260526 rel.17566(4153) (latest available for v2.0)
Mode: Main Router, WAN = Dynamic IP (router is behind the ISP ONT)

Hello @phuoccm ,
Thanks for contacting our community.
It looks like the upload latency is indeed quite high; while enabling QoS brings it down a bit, it remains rather high.
Would you mind sharing the corresponding download latency figures for these settings?
To conduct a thorough analysis, we need to refer this matter to our engineering team. Please note that this may require your cooperation with further testing, and your network environment must support remote access. Would this be convenient for you?
If this isn't convenient right now, you are also welcome to contact your local technical support at any time; they can assist you based on your situation.

Thanks for looking into this. All numbers below were measured with macOS networkQuality during local peak hours. I compared my GE550 against the ISP modem's own built-in Wi-Fi, on the same line and at the same time.
=== SYSTEM A — Archer GE550 v2.0 (my main router) ===
Setting Idle Download(loaded) Upload(loaded)
QoS OFF 184 ms 337 ms 1471 ms
QoS ON, upload 130 368 ms 246 ms 1131 ms
QoS ON, upload 70 215 ms 246 ms 786 ms
=== SYSTEM B — ISP modem built-in Wi-Fi (same line, same time) ===
Setting Idle Download(loaded) Upload(loaded)
No QoS 59 ms 264 ms 843 ms
Observations:
- Download latency stays moderate on the GE550.
- Upload latency under load is the main problem.
- On the same line at the same moment, the GE550's idle latency is much higher
than the modem's own Wi-Fi (184-368 ms vs 59 ms).
