Modem/router reseting to factory defaults by itself.

I have a few clients to whom I have installed some T-PLink ADSL modem/routers 4 or 5 years ago.
In the last couple weeks one by are are resting themselves to factory defaults and 2000-01-01 date time.
Set them again only to see them reset a few hours latter. So far this has happened to at least 8 DSL router/modems, different models.
Is this a known issue?
Ho can these modems be fixed?
