Model: Deco XE75
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.8 Build 20221121 Rel. 36280

I have a XE75 3 pack and since the day I bought it I have been facing frequent packet drop and high pings on specific devices.

- Macbook Pro 2019

- Lenovo 20VD with Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz

The main deco is connected to ISP router which is in bridge mode, of the satellite router 1 is connected via ethernet and the other is wireless. I have tried rotating the main with satelite but no luck. The range is not an issue since I face issue sitting directly beside the router as well.

All the remaining devices work fine. To circumvent the issue I have to connect my macbook via Ethernet with the main deco router and then it works fine and no packet drops at all. The issue seems to be widespread and similar thread can be found in the forum for other deco models as well.

I have tried multiple combination by turning ipv6 on/off, Fast roaming and beam forming on/off, assigning a static IP for the devices and turning off mesh as well but nothing seems to fix the issue. I have tried these devices on other router using the same ISP and they work fine.

Below are the screenshots from my mac when connected over wifi.

  @bakedbugaboo

Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.

I have sent a beta firmware in the private message and please check whether this firmware helped with the current issue.

If not, I would like to forward your case to the senior engineers. Please help me check the following details:

1. Did both MacBook Pro and Lenovo 20VD connect to 5ghz of Deco XE75?

2. How often would this issue usually repeat?

3. Did you enable 6ghz on Deco XE75 as an available wireless network? If yes, would temporarily disabling this band make any difference?

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

I have updated the mesh system with the beta firmware you provided and it has been applied to all the PODs. I will test and let you know the results

  @David-TP I don't see a difference with this version either. I think it would be greate if you can forward this to senior engineer.

1. Did both MacBook Pro and Lenovo 20VD connect to 5ghz of Deco XE75?

2. How often would this issue usually repeat?

3. Did you enable 6ghz on Deco XE75 as an available wireless network? If yes, would temporarily disabling this band make any difference?

  1. Yes both devices are connected to 5ghz network.
  2. It pretty much a loop which keeps happening.
  3. No the 6hz is set to dedicated backhaul only.

Checking the pings with google and a local IP as well (192.168.1.1)

  @David-TP

Did you find a solution to this issue - I am facing the exact same behavior, and as I need it for speech and video, I need stability over speed.

For now I am better off with the old 5ghz router I have even though it is much slower but stable.

Firmware Version 1.2.1 Build 20230601 Rel. 58453

Main is configured as AP as I need existing router for TV (mandatory). The issue is the same regardless of wether I connect to main or satellites

Did you get a fix as I'm experiencing exactly the issue you describe.  Making teams calls very problematic.

  @srbs73

Although it was mentioned that a tp-link engineer would have a call with me for diagnosis but that never happened. He kept rescheduling the call and ultimately cancelled it.

However I am no longer facing the issue and I am unsure how did it stop. I have flashed the latest firmware that is available on US website instead of my regional one. Maybe that could help you as well.

Switching to 80 MHz pemanently has improved things significantly.

  @srbs73

Improved as in no more 1-2 sec latencies or timeouts?

I have just been asked to return mine, so I guess it is a recognized problem, and I have no way of testing your thesis 🙂

Hi is there any further updates on this?  I have exactly this problem and it's causing me a stack of issues when video conferencing.

I get ping timeouts with a lenovo laptop connected to a single XE75 connected as a Router to a physical BT router. The ping timeouts are to the XE75 on IPv4 (192.168.68.1).

System is fully up to date, 6Ghz used for dedicated backhaul. IPv6 turned off.

Network scan show "perfect" on Channel 6 for 2.5GHz and 48 for 5GHz.

Thanks in advance.... Phil
