AV 600 - Download speeds drop when replaced router- Help please

Hi All,

I have been using an AV600 for a few years now, with no issues or problems, originally I had 70 MBS at the router and got 70 at the laptop, but i recently changed service providers and upgraded my line speeds, but since I have installed the new router I have seem my download speed fall off completely, which is not what i expected when upgrading my service package, in fact the speeds have fall to between 5-10MBS, and I’m now getting 500 MBS at the router, so why is the powerline is giving me slower speeds at the laptop.  This is less than i had with the old slower router, plus one interesting thing, the upload peed have increase in line with my expectations.

I have not moved or changed anything just the router, if i plug the laptop into the router using the same cables that to go to the adapter I get full speed, it’s just when it comes out I have much lower speeds.

Any help or suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

Ben

Hi,

If only the router was replaced, then perhaps the AC/DC adapter that comes with the new router is creating too much noise on the electrical wiring.

Since the Powerline adapter that is connected to the router is usually plugged in a wall socket very near to where the router's AC/DC adapter is plugged in, its performance can be easily affected.

If that was the case, then see if you can plug in the two devices into wall sockets farter apart from each other. Or if viable, replace the AC/DC adapter.

Here some similar previous threads.

I remember there was another thread of someone who replaced the AC/DC adapter to solve the problem, but I can't find it now.
