Model: Archer TX20E
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: N/A

Hello,

I am experiencing severe and intermittent performance problems with my Archer TX20E V1.

Hardware:

  • Adapter: TP-Link Archer TX20E AX1800 V1
  • Wi-Fi chipset: Realtek RTL8852BE
  • Driver: 6001.15.153.0
  • PC: Medion Erazer Recon P20
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-14400F
  • RAM: 16 GB

Router:

  • Movistar Wi-Fi 6 router
  • 5 GHz
  • Channel 116

The adapter reports:

  • 802.11ax
  • RX/TX link speed: 1201/1201 Mbps
  • Signal: 88–89%
  • RSSI: approximately -47 to -51 dBm

Despite the excellent reported Wi-Fi link, actual internet throughput can suddenly drop from 600–830 Mbps to approximately 50–110 Mbps without changing any settings.

There are also severe latency spikes. A direct ping to the router (192.168.1.1) averages around 30 ms, but can reach 75–170 ms. Discord has reached approximately 5000 ms during these events.

I performed an additional test using the same TX20E, PC and driver connected to a mobile hotspot. The adapter achieved 286.5 Mbps link speed, with 5 ms average ping, 26 ms maximum and 0% packet loss to the hotspot gateway.

This makes me suspect an interoperability/configuration/driver issue between the TX20E/RTL8852BE and the Movistar Wi-Fi 6 router rather than a simple signal-strength problem.

Could you please confirm:

  1. Whether there is a newer RTL8852BE driver than 6001.15.153.0 officially compatible with the TX20E V1.
  2. Whether there are any known compatibility issues with Wi-Fi 6 / 5 GHz channel 116 and the TX20E.
  3. Whether you recommend any specific TX20E advanced settings or router settings for this issue.
  4. Whether there is a newer beta/test driver you can provide for troubleshooting.

Thank you.

Then it's not a driver issue.

What is the Wi-Fi standard used by the mobile hotspot you mentioned earlier?
In case it uses an older Wi-Fi standard, then you could test if the TX20E may also have a more consistent connection with the Moviestar router when it is limited to that older Wi-Fi standard. (usually can this be adjusted in the properties of the Wi-Fi network device in Windows' Device Manager)

Hi,

Currently, the newest driver version for the RTL8852BE should be 6001.15.165.3, which is available for download via the Microsoft Update Catalog.

https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=6001.15.165.3

You could also check if your Windows is offering you to install this driver via Windows Update. (in Win11 it's Windows Update -> Advanced Options -> Optional Updates)
