Dear Tp-Link,

There seem to be some bug or unexpected activity that causes Android Tapo app (version 2.4.62) to drain the battery constantly when the app is in the background (not used actively). It also seems to appear in the recent app updates, it wasn't a problem before.

How to verify? There are 2 of Tapo C200 cameras that I'm using. On Android (version 11 is used) I noticed that my battery is not holding anymore. And if you go to "Settings -> Battery -> Usage details" you can see that Tapo app drains a lot of battery even when its not running.

What activity of the app can use so many resources? Or is it simply a bug?

Thanks!

Hello  @user047823

Thank you for your feedback, we do not see similar feedback before.

May I know did you recently update phone OS  or change phone battery saving settings?

  • If phone gets a lots alerts/ notifications from tapo app, that will consume the battery:

You could temporarily turn Notification settings off on tapo APP or ajust notifications settings on the phone for test purpose.

  • You could try to install the older version tapo APP and see if there is any difference (sent to you via private message)
  • Please try a different Android phone and see if its the same on a different phone.

Can I have a photo showing the phone batter usage as well.
