Would be a wonderful function. Most people will want to monitor the power consumption of something that must never be turned off.

Just installed my first P110 and was already looking for the option to disable the on/off switch in the app only to find that it is not implemented (yet). So a +1 for me.

This is basic functionality that would cost very little development time to implement, seems like a no brainer to get this feature added, and sooner rather than later.

after at least 2 years expecting this function, i tend to think the programmers from tp are not capable of doing it and simulate a constat waiting to look smart

I need this too. I created actually another feature request for this and was directed to this one.

Currently using the Tapo plugs for energy monitoring so I don’t need to be able to turn them off. Happens to quickly by accident. A simple confirmation or option to remove the power button would be nice.

Hi Wayne, I have a near identical use case to these folks, also hosting machines that require uninterrupted power (imagine like a home internet WiFi or modem) 1. Do you want the power button in the app to be locked, or should the physical power button also be disabled? Part A; in app power button be locked based on a Boolean value in plug-specific settings (not all plugs); a plug by plug basis. Part B; physical power button - ideal but not as much of a priority as part A. If our use case is to provide power and ability to monitor usage without interruption, then our core use case puts us in the app to monitor, rather than fiddling with the actual physical plug. That, and I think that having a Boolean disable the power on off button in app is probably a much quicker time to implementation, can be handled entirely within app build, instead of dealing with the hardware nuances 2. In terms of accidentally pressing the plug's power button, could you share your experiences? A. Do you often experience accidental presses? Does it happen when you're on app's homepage or on the smart plug's device page? B. Or is this request based on a "concern" about the possibility of accidental presses? For me, mostly a concern, I’d bet the others too. I think this is more flexible of a solution (not necessarily disable, maybe press and hold for x seconds - would propose 3) but, again, this is lower priority than in-app… especially since there are multiple locations in app to accidentally trigger

Worth noting that this is actually a deal breaker for me. I host my business on my machine. I can’t knock my business offline. I love every aspect of my 6 new plugs, except for that feature, and unfortunately that feature is what might cause me to return them and go a safer route. The risks simply outweigh the benefits, and there’s enough alternatives out there to find something that doesn’t put me at that risk, even if they dont provide all the same benefits - my core, primary use case that trumps all others: monitor usage - not even necessarily over time, but moment by moment. By introducing features that have adverse impact to core goals (what I do with the power) vs my core use case (how I achieve my primary use case) a I obviously have to align with the underlying purpose (host my business without interruption)

I use these plugs for power monitoring for hardware. Would be great to be able to hide/disable the power button from the app, or even to disable/enable the power button on the plug itself via the app.

I want to use these plugs to monitor refrigerators but I'm not comfortable doing so due to how easily a mistap could shut it off. The ability to disable the off option for a specific plug would be ideal. Even an option to enable a multi-step power off could work. It can still be powered off but requires multiple (intentional) steps to do so. Being able to disable the physical button would also be great.
