Model: Tapo C200
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I am trying to setup a Tapo C200 on a network with no Internet access.

The Tapo app manages to connect to the camera, setup the wifi, and then pair. That's fine.

After the setup the camera shows a solid amber led (connected) but the camera cannot be accessed from the app (not responsive).

Furthermore, the device list on the Tapo app is empty.

Any idea?

Hi,
Usually, it's requested to have a working Wi-Fi when configuring the Tapo C200, and once the camera is configured and can be managed via the Tapo app, you can disconnect the internet to the Wi-Fi router, and the camera still can be managed locally on the Tapo app.
Best Regards

@Solla-topee thanks for that, but just to clarify ..

I do have wifi but no Internet. You can get Internet via wifi, LAN, mobile data.

You can have wifi with no Internet.

The camera is connected to wifi but with no Internet.

I tried what you said and connected the camera to wifi and Internet, it worked fine.

But after I disconnect the Internet (wifi still on), the tapo app cannot show the image.

So it seems that the camera always require Internet and cannot run locally?

Hi,
When the camera is connected to a Wi-Fi that has internet, please check the IP address of the camera on the Tapo app>camera's Device Settings>Device Info page.
When the Wi-Fi has no internet, ensure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi as the camera, disable the mobile data on your phone, and check the IP address on your phone.
Try to ping the camera's IP address on your phone, and check if you can ping it successfully, if yes, open the Tapo app and check if you can manage the camera.

If not, you may need to check if the Wi-Fi router has special settings enabled, such as AP isolation, so the connected devices can't communicate with each other.
Best Regards
