Tapo app lagging on one device but works fine on another
Hi,
I have a Tapo C520WS up and running.
I've installed the Tapo app on 2 phones:
- a Samsung S9+
- a Samsung S10 Lite
The app works very well on the S9+, but on the S10 Lite it lags.
If I tilt the camera (via the arrow buttons), the camera angle changes pretty much instantly on the S9+, but on the S10 Lite it takes several seconds.
Also, the displayed timestamp is off.
On the S9+ the time is up-to-date and the seconds are updated correctly (every second).
On the S10 Lite the time is behind by about 30 seconds and is updates about once every 5-10 seconds.
Furthermore, the real-time video feed pretty much lags on the S10 Lite.
The problem is obviously NOT with the camera, but with the app/phone.
Not that other apps on the S10 work fine. the only issue is with the Tapo app.
I've reinstalled the app and disabled any Power Saving mode on the phone, but the issue remains.
Is there any way I can troubleshoot the issue in a more "advanced" way? Debug logs or some other creative way to tackle this issue?
Thanks!

Good news!
Everything seems to be working fine on the S10 Lite now.
The funny thing is that I didn't do anything to fix it.
It just started working fine by itself.
But regardless, thank you for all your time and help!

Hi,
It's hard to say the Tapo app is the problem from the problem phenomenon, please help confirm the following information for further analysis.
1. Are the Samsung S9+ and S10 Lite connected to the same Wi-Fi network when managing or watching the camera?
If not, please describe the usage scenario.
2. Please compare if any special apps are installed on the S10 Lite but not on the S9+, especially the firewall, antivirus, or VPN apps. You can uninstall them for a try if there are.
3. What's the Tapo app version installed on your S10 Lite?

Hi! Please see my answers below:
1. Yes, they are both connected to the same WiFi.
2. Ok, this is going to take some time.
3. Both devices have the latest version of the Tapo app (3.2.976)

Hi,
The latest Tapo app version is 3.3.513, you may try to update the Tapo app on your S10 Lite, and also remember to check the special apps, then check if the Tapo app perform fine on the phone.

I updated the app.
Both devices now have Tapo 3.3.513. Unfortunately, the issue persists.
Regarding the special apps, there seem to be no Firewall or VPN apps installed.
There is only an Antivirus app, but removing it doesn't seem to help with the issue.
Anything else I can try? Maybe some kind of debug logs or something similar?
Thank you!

Hi,
You can go to the camera's Device Settings>Advanced Settings>Display Settings page, select the Compatible Mode, and check if it helps.
If the problem remains, download and install this app on your S10 Lite for a try.
Btw, are the two phones and the camera connected to the same Wi-Fi when watching the camera? What's the OS version of your two phones?

Hi,
Compatible mode doesn't seem to help.
The S9+ has Android 10 on it and the S10 Lite has Android 13.
Both phones are connected to the same WiFi when watching the camera.
Regarding the app you linked in the previous comment, can you please give me some details about it? What exactly is the difference between that one and the official one (from the Play Store)?
I'm very cautious when it comes to side-loading apps.
Thanks!

Hi,
The app provided in this post is a debug Tapo app, which adds the feature to export the app log than the official one. If the problem happens when using the app, you can help collect the app log for further analysis.
