@jfilipelcarvalh Yes - I do that today, its very easy.  Just set it up in HA and then "share" the number (then copy/paste it) into Smart things and it works in both HA and Smartthings at the same time.  The only thing we need now is to get energy monitoring in both HA and Smartthings and I understand that is a firmware thing in the plug

I was going to buy 3 or 4 of these, but I guess I'm having to hold off, until power measuring is available offline. I'll see if I can get Ikea instead for testing.

I have discovered months ago that Matter 1.3 plugs exist since it works fine on HA using matter. To be fair, I belive tp-link/tapo creates a lot better products than generic tuya rebrand stuff so I am waiting for this too. I have the regular P110 non M and I prefer using these smartplugs the most over others. And I look forward to buying some P110Ms once the new firmware proper is out.

It's funny, turns out that generic Chinese smart plug did not support Matter 1.3 energy reporting. It was using a proprietary custom cluster, just like Eve did, called NeoCluster in HA: https://github.com/home-assistant/core/issues/125868 . So, when I wrote the comment, smart plugs with Matter 1.3 did not exist.

Fast forward to today, there are some certified smart plugs for 1.3 and I believe some Tuya-based ones are now indeed Matter 1.3 compliant although it's impossible to know which ones as it depends on the model and region. Most vendors, including all the known brands, are still not yet updated.

Yesterday I got the Matter 1.3 update on my SmartThings hub which supports energy monitoring, and I was hoping to see energy monitoring being supported with my Tapo P110M but unfortunately this is not the case.

Tapo P110M and SmartThings Matter 1.3 as of today:

• Using the Tapo Linked services, energy Monitoring works but then the control is not local.
• Using Matter 1.3, energy monitoring is NOT working

I want the control to remain local but also have energy monitoring and be able to use Multi-Admin and therefore I want to use Matter.

I have also reported this to SmartThings but I suspect Tapo needs to push a firmware update.

I'm also using Homey Pro 2023 and waiting for the energy monitoring implementation (coming soon), without the firmware update from Tapo, the problem will be the same there as well.

  @Didier_Smarthom I use the Moes Matter plug and Since 2 months ago it report energy conected only by matter to homeassistant... A strange thing, but a cheap plug report that without the Matter 1.3 🤣

It's not that strange, Matter allows adding non-standard attributes to the devices and both Eve and some generic brand cloned by others (Neo) introduced their own to workaround the lack of standard energy attributes in Matter until the 1.3 specification.

The Eve Energy has supported energy monitoring via Matter in SmartThings and Home Assistant for a few months already, not through Matter 1.3 but using their own non-standard attributes and specific support for them in both platforms.

The Moes is a clone of that Neo plug which followed the same strategy, use their own non-standard attributes. Home Assistant has specific code to support those non-standard attributes, they call it NeoCluster.

Of course, the advantage of Matter 1.3 energy reporting is that it's a standard so there's no need for explicit support in home platforms for vendor-specific stuff.

Doesn't look good that this energy monitoring/matter would even get introduced 😕 

Can I suggest that anyone really wanting this feature look elsewhere or hold off buying for now.

I like the products but maybe I prefere to buy sonoff or shelly or other câmera brand that work with everything...

Following-up on this, when I see the different responses from TP-Link support listed here, I see TP-Links continue to lie to their customers.

Currently, we need to wait for other Matter third-party apps to complete their adaptations concerning the energy monitoring before we provide this feature for these apps

=> No you don't need to wait for others. Matter is a standard and all certified Matter 1.3 hubs implement the energy monitoring the same way. No need to adapt it for each platform.

Some manufacturers implemented a workarounds that was specifically developed for each platform but that was before Matter 1.3 implementation.

 => So TP-Link had enough resources to add a Matter logo on all the marketing materials but then fails to deliver on their claim. Since when this is acceptable?

When looking at the product page, it clearly states Matter and Energy Monitoring on the exact same picture without any disclaimer.

In my opinion TP-Link has 2 choices, deliver on their promises and then everyone will be happy and keep buying their products

or

Not delivering on their promises and keep damaging the brand.

After discovering this, I'm now extremely reluctant to explore other products from Tapo as I don't know what feature I can expect to work. If I buy a camera, should I hope for a firmware update to turn-on the camera?
