Firmware Version:

Hello,

I am installing some Kasa dimmers in my home and I have come across some issues setting them up. According to the diagram the "Main Switch" should be connected to the Line, Travelers, Neutral, and ground. While the "Satellite Switch" does not require a Neutral wire.

My issue is the way the house is wired I do not have a Neutral Wire in the same box as the load from the panel but my "Satellite" box has a Neutral wire. Can you just swap the "Satellite" and "Main" Switch to work in this situation or will it cause issues?

The main switch and satellite switch cannot be interchanged in their installation locations as they need to be connected to the line and load wires separately.

@BakerCountry Your explanation of having a Load/Neutral cable coming from the Panel does not make sense.  From the Panel comes a cable with Line (i.e. 115 volts)/Neutral wires.  Teh panel priovides the voltage for your loads and takes for Load and Neutral to make this happen. This is your Main box and will hold your Main switch.

The Satellite box contains the cable going to the Load.  And, there MUST to be a two wires going to the load, one to provide 115V and the Neutral.

Realize that you have to disconnect the line wire from all the other wires to figure out which wire is which, or it just transfers the voltage to one of the other wires (depending on how the switches are switched) and causes confusion.

I use a Non-contact  voltage tester to figure out which wire is the Line.
