C210 missing a lot of motion
I have a tapo C210 that is currently pointed at my back deck. I wanted to watch to see which if any birds were going to eat the type of food I put out for them. It seemed that the food was disappearing and the camera wasn't registering anything so I set up my old Ezviz camera right next to the tapo. The tapo gives me a much clearer picture but the Ezviz captured a Cardinal coming in for the food and the tapo didn't register it at all. The food is about seven to eight feet in front of the camera, this is during broad daylight and the sensitivity setting on the tapo is the highest it can go. I have the camera set for auto updates and as expected, it was up to date when I checked. I have motion detection on and person detection off. Motion tracking is also off and I don't have any activity zones set.
Any ideas?

Hi,
1. When a bird going to eat food in front of the camera, can you receive a notification on your phone or Tapo app > Home > Bell icon > your camera page?
2. Have you inserted an SD card into the camera to store video recordings or subscribed to the Tapo Care service?
3. Could you please send us a video showing there are motions but the camera won't record them? You can record the video manually on the camera's live view page.

I don't have the camera set up to send notifications. Just to record whenever there is motion.
Yes, there is a 32 gigabit SD card in the camera. It seems to record some things and not others.
Well there's no video of the event I'm mentioning because that's exactly the issue... It should have created a video but it didn't. I can't find the video from the Ezviz camera so far, I think because it has been overwritten already. However, here are two still shots, one from each camera that I took just to compare. The event that I was trying to capture was on the closest orange tray to the camera. Note that the Tapo camera image is much clearer than the Eviz but that the Eviz seems to take in a wider field of view and therefore looks farther away but in truth the cameras are side by side.

Hi,
1. On the Tapo app > camera's Device Settings > Detectin > Motion Detection page, please add a full-screen activity zone.
2. Please go to the Notifications page to enable the Activity Notifications option, set Schedule to Always, and select Motion Detection in Activity Type.
You will receive notifications on the Tapo app and your phone. If you do not want to receive notifications on your phone, please go to its Settings page to disable the Notification feature for the Tapo app. Below are the instructions to help you disable the notification feature for the Tapo app on your phone.
Why can’t I receive notifications after turning on Notifications?
In this situation, you can only see motion detection notifications on your Tapo app when go to the Home > Bell icon > your camera page.
3. It's suggested to wait for the problem to happen, and then send us a video showing there are birds to eat food but the Tapo camera can't record it. And please go to the Tapo app to check if you have received a relevant notification when the bird eats food.

Thanks I am familiar with the settings in the tapo cameras and I have them set already for motion detection on the entire screen. Also the schedule is already set to always but I have the notifications turned off.
I'll try to catch the issue on video though it may take awhile. Is there a way to put the tapo app on my Windows laptop? It's not easy to view it on my phone all the time.
Thanks again,
John

Hi,
Thank you for your reply, I'll wait for your updates patiently.
Currently, there is no Tapo app that can be installed on a Windows laptop. However, if you want to watch the Tapo C210's live feed on your laptop, please refer to the instructions below.

I tried to follow those instructions once but there's a lot there that I don't understand. I am able to view the camera feed on my laptop using bluestacks app but it's kind of clunky. I have to say it's frustrating that tapo doesn't have

Hi,
You can provide the detailed steps you get stuck on when trying to watch the camera on your laptop via RTSP/Onvif protocol, and we will provide proper suggestions.
Or you can vote on the thread "Tapo App availability on Windows" and leave your usage scenario here, we will keep logging the feedback and forward it to the relevant team for evaluation.
