Firmware Version: 1.3.5

I installed two TAPO 500 V1 cameras (currently with FW 1.3.5) on the external perimeter of the house about 6 months ago.

Both cameras are connected to the same WiFi and reached by a good WiFi signal (average speed during LiveView is about 100k).

One of the two cameras has never given problems and still works perfectly.

The second TAPO 500 camera for about 1 month has started to manifest the problem that I describe below.

 

The camera works correctly by sending notifications when it detects a target present in the area. But when I open the TAPO APP on the phone and try to see the LiveView or Playback the stored recordings (on local microSD), after about 30 seconds of attempts the camera stop working (Offline status on TAPO APP) with a stable red LED.

The only way to exit this state is to remove the power.
Retrying the connection to view the LiveView or Playback obtains the same result.

 

Any suggestions or help is appreciated

Hi,
Please confirm the following information for the reported issue.


1. Please ensure the Tapo app is up to date. If not, uninstall it and then reinstall it.


2. When the camera works, please go to its Device Settings > Device Info page, tap the Wi-Fi icon, and check its RSSI value.


3. You can go to the camera's Device Settings > Video & Display > Video Quality page to select a lower Video Quality and check if it helps.


4. Could you please send us a video showing the reported issue? You can upload the video to your cloud server (such as Google Drive), generate a download link, and send it to me (@Solla-topee) via a private message.

Thanks for your prompt reply

 

1. TAPO APP version: 3.11.106

2. -65 (RSSI)

3. Video quality value was 720P. Noi, following you're suggestion I lowered Video quality to 360P. However it looks does not help when I try to LiveView. I'll check later if it helps on Playback 

4. How can I record a video about the issue ? The camera stop working randomly after some trials of using LiveView or Playback functio.

 

Is the diagnostic function you find in the TAPO APP helpfull to support you investigating on this issue ?

Hi,
1. You may try factory resetting the camera by pressing the reset button for 10 seconds, then reconfiguring it and checking if it helps.

 

2. If the problem persists, you can use the Screen Recording feature on your iPhone to record a video about the issue.

 

3. Please follow the instructions below to collect the camera and app logs for further analysis. You can notify me once you send the logs.
