Note: To use voice commands, you will need devices that support voice assistants, such as Amazon Echo Show, Google Nest Hub, Apple HomePod, iPhone, or iPad.

Custom Cleaning
Tapo has a Shortcut feature that provides you with more precise control over your robot vacuum, allowing you to clean specific rooms or areas and create detailed cleaning preferences, such as the number of cleaning cycles, suction power, and water level for mopping. Once your Tapo account is linked to your Alexa account, the shortcuts created in Tapo will automatically sync to the Alexa app and be recognized as a scene. This allows you to use voice commands to direct Alexa to carry out custom cleaning with your robot vacuum.
How to do this?
- Create a Tapo shortcut with the preferred cleaning settings for the vacuum. How to create Smart Action (Automation or Shortcut) on Tapo app
- Once the Tapo shortcut is created, it will be synced to the bound Alexa account (App) automatically.
3. Now, you're ready to go!
Initiate a custom cleaning task: Alexa, turn on <shortcut name>
Tips: If Alexa cannot understand the command, rename the shortcut to something that won't confuse the voice assistant.
Don't want to rename the shortcuts? Don’t worry, Alexa routine can do a favor! Customize a voice control command to control a smart home scene (Tapo shortcut):
Create a new Alexa routine:
- Trigger > Voice event: When you say 'Alexa, xxxx'
- Action > Smart Home - Scenes: Alexa will turn on: xxxx (scene)
For example, using a simple command to control a shortcut that has a longer name:
When anyone says 'Alexa, start living room plan A', Alexa will turn on (scene) 'Living Room Standard Cleaning - Vac & Mop Once'.
