Tapo H500 causes instability on Deco X50 Ethernet backhaul
Hello,
I already opened a detailed post in the Home Network Community → Deco section about this issue:
👉 Deco X50 Ethernet backhaul unstable when Tapo H500 is connected - Home Network Community
In short:
-
Tapo H500 (US v1.0, firmware 1.3.1 Build 20250822) is connected by Ethernet to my Deco X50 (US v1.0, firmware 1.6.7 Build 25031412).
-
The H500 currently manages one Tapo C520WS (v2.0, firmware 1.1.2) camera.
-
When the H500 is connected by Ethernet, my secondary Deco randomly loses its Ethernet backhaul — LED turns blinking red for 20–30 seconds and then recovers.
-
The Deco app reports “Ethernet backhaul unstable.”
-
As soon as I unplug the H500, the Deco network becomes completely stable again.
Additionally, I’m unable to configure Wi-Fi on the H500:
When I try to add a Wi-Fi network, it fails with an error.
I’m performing the setup from a phone connected to the Deco’s 5 GHz network.
Because of this, I can only use the H500 via Ethernet, which is when the instability occurs.
I wanted to post it here as well in case it’s a compatibility or firmware issue between the Deco X50 and Tapo H500, or if someone has found a workaround for the Wi-Fi setup failure.
Thanks in advance for any insight!
