Hi all,

Hoping someone here can help with my TD21 doorbell as it has suddenly stopped behaving.

It was working fine before (our Wi-Fi is a bit weak, but it still managed). A few days ago it stopped connecting to the Tapo app entirely, and now it keeps running through the same light pattern over and over:

- Flashing red for about 10 seconds

- Solid orange for about 1 second

- Solid red for about 1 second

- Solid white for around 10 seconds

…and then it goes straight back to flashing red and repeats the whole cycle.

I’ve tried every reset option I can think of:

- Letting the battery fully drain

- Charging it to full

- Holding the reset button for 5 seconds

- Holding it for 10 seconds

- Holding it for 20 seconds

None of these do anything. I also can’t get it to connect to the app, so I can’t change any settings or run a proper reset from there.

Does anyone know what the next step is when just holding the reset button doesn't work? I’d really appreciate any guidance.

Thanks!

This light pattern indicates that the doorbell successfully connected to WiFi but then quickly disconnected. In my opinion, the most likely cause is still a weak WiFi signal.

You may try to bring the doorbell closer to the router (or temporarily connect it to a different network, such as a mobile hotspot) and reconfigure it. If the connection stays stable this time, it confirms the signal strength issue. For a long-term fix, consider adding a range extender between the doorbell and router. Be aware that the doorbell is installed outdoors, when the door is closed, the router's WiFi signal will be weakened.
