Model: Tapo C425
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

greetings

I have mounted a couple of c425 cameras but this one does detect dogs as humans all the time.

is this because I mounted it too high?

The other C425 don't have this problem.

Hi,
The false detection phenomenon is related to multiple factors. It's recommended to troubleshoot by following Case 2 in the instructions below.
What should I do if my Tapo camera triggers false detection?
Best Regards

@Solla-topee unfortunately it doesn't help.  it detects humans even if dogs walk through the picture, it also detects humans.

but it is only this camera, the others don't have this problem.

it hangs about 1 m higher than the other two. could this be related?

for the rest there are three identical cameras and I don't have this problem on the other two.

I think about purchasing the h500 home base. maybe it'll make it work better?

I only need notifications for unknown humans.

my dogs take care of the rest 😉

Hi,
Typically, we suggest installing the camera at a height of 2-3 meters. If the specific camera is installed too high, you can adjust its installation position.

Have you enabled the Pet Detection feature on the specific camera? If so, on the camera's Live View page, please enable the Detection Tag feature, then record a video manually showing that the camera detects a dog as a person. Then please send us the video for further analysis.
You can upload the video to your cloud server (such as Google Drive), generate a download link, and send it to me (@Solla-topee) via a private message.

With the H500, do you want to store the camera's video recordings on the hub and receive notifications whenever the camera detects an unknown person?

Best Regards

@Solla-topee this particular camera hangs at 3 meters, the others hang at 2 meters

I have only enabled person detection, not pet detection. Do you want me to enable pet detection, too?

I am sending you the video as direct message.

the reason I ordered the H500 is the AI human detection, with known and unknown faces. I want alarms for strangers, if the dogs are sleeping ;)

thanks

Andreas

Hi,
1. There is no need to enable Pet Detection. Have you enabled the Detection Tag feature before providing the video via a private message? I did not see the detection tag on the provided video. I want to double-check whether the camera is detecting the dog as a person, rather than other objects.

2. If you have ordered the Tapo H500, you can check if the camera will have better performance on person detection when working with the hub. With the Facial Recognition feature configured, you can receive a notification when the camera detects an unknown person.
Local Facial Recognition: Recognizes and tags strangers, family, and friends for easy identification

Best Regards

@Solla-topee this is exactly the problem

I'm receiving a notification on my mobile phone that there's a person detected.

The video clip I sent you is the one that is highlighted in the screenshot before, you see the symbol of the human. The camera recorded because it detected a person.

I can lower the detection sensitivity but as I understand from the settings, this is only lowering the distance. so I don't think it is the right thing to do... are there any other settings?

also... there is no tag around the dogs.

these are the settings of the camera in question. they are like this since I mounted the camera.
