Model: Tapo C460 KIT
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.1

Hi @Wayne-TP,

As discussed from the previous thread, below are my questions.

  1. C460 - How can I view and download those snap shot frames. I can only Video from Playback & Download.
  2. C460 - I can't see the frame rate settings for the Video & Display settings.
  3. C460/C425 - Is it possible to trigger the Alarm manually? If so, how can I do that?
  4. C460/C425 - Video & Display settings - does the setting affects both 'Live View and the Recording'?
  5. C425 - Will the 24/7 Capture be available in the future firmware update?

Thank you.

Re: Snapshots are used to generate video recordings and are not available for export as standalone files.

2. C460 - I can't see the frame rate settings for the Video & Display settings.

Re: Tapo C460's frame rate is 15 fps, no other parameters are available.

3. C460/C425 - Is it possible to trigger the Alarm manually? If so, how can I do that?

Manual Alarm: Activate the Tapo Camera Alarm with One Tap

4. C460/C425 - Video & Display settings - does the setting affects both 'Live View and the Recording'?

Re: Most settings apply to both live view and recordings, except for the Detection Tag, which only shows in live view.

5. C425 - Will the 24/7 Capture be available in the future firmware update?

Ok thanks for the response.

Few feedback from about those answers.

So looks like the 15fps is a big downgrade compared to the C425 which can do a smooth 25fps.

And for the 24/7 capture, what's the point then of those snapshots frames if you can't get them to download. It is useless if consumer can't extract them to us as evidence when an event happens.

@LuffyTaro  Why not use the videos?

The Tapo camera is sort of hit and missed.

A lot of times when I checked the video, the person appear all the sudden without knowing which direction it came from.
The 24/7 Capture sometimes capture stills that the event-triggered video don't.

So that's why the ability to download the original frame from the 24/7 capture is essential.

The 24/7 Capture function works by taking periodic snapshots from the camera at set intervals, which are later combined to create a video—regardless of whether motion detection is enabled. If you cannot see certain information in a 24/7 Capture video, it means the camera did not capture that moment originally. Therefore, even if you were to access the original snapshots, they would not contain the information you are looking for.

For your situation, have you tried to reduce the capture interval? Additionally, I recommend checking your camera’s Recording Schedule to confirm whether 24/7 Capture is enabled throughout the desired time period. If Detection Recording is set for certain intervals, the camera might not wake up in time when motion begins—which could result in missing the start of an activity.

If this is the case, you can refer to the following article for guidance on improving motion detection performance on battery-powered cameras. Proper installation can greatly enhance their ability to detect activity promptly and reliably. How to Install and Configure Battery-Powered Cameras for Optimal Detection Performance

  @Wayne-TP Hello, I've a suggestion.

C615G

As far as I checked, the 365days capture feature consumes a sd card space. of course it is required.

I read https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/4462/, and I have a question.

The 365 capture (24/7 capture) feature enhances the detection range/performance with captured images at certain intervals.

PIR has clear limitations, so the 365 capture feature is used to enhance it, as I understand.

It is fine that the captured data are inaccessible to users.

But why does it consume so much storage space?

If users cannot access the data, it does not need to be stored for more than one day, because it is totally meaningless.

quoted from faq link;

Q5: What is the storage space usage of 24/7 Capture on the SD card?

A5: When no detection event is triggered, with a 10-second capture interval, 24/7 Capture recording consumes about 173MB per day. If the interval is set to 1 second, it will consume about 1730MB per day.

The following table shows the approximate number of days the storage can hold 24/7 Capture recordings:
