Battery reporting via Matter for KE100

Model: KE100 KIT
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 2.15.0

I'd like to request that TP-Link add battery monitoring to its Matter implementation.

Currently there is no way to see the battery percentage or a low-battery status for the KE100 through Matter, it is only visible in the Kasa app. Since the KE100 is battery powered, this is crucial information for users controlling it through alternative Matter ecosystems (Apple Home, Google Home, Home Assistant, etc).

Request:

- Add the power source cluster to the device's Matter endpoint

- Expose BatPercentRemaining at minimum

- Deliver via OTA firmware update

The Power Source cluster is well defined within the Matter standard and already implemented in other Matter battery devices. In my opinion, this is a crucial cluster to achieve the bare minimum functionality of a smart TRV. The availability of this cluster would allow users to respond to low-battery scenarios before the valve silently stops working, which matters a lot for heating control during winter.

Thank you for your consideration.

Hello,

Thank you for your detailed feedback and suggestion regarding battery monitoring for the KE100 via Matter. We have recorded your request and will forward it to our product team for evaluation. Your input is valuable in helping us improve our products.

As a workaround, we recommend checking the battery level using the device's battery indicator light, which can give you a general idea of the remaining power.
