Model: Tapo C320WS
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.6.5

When I connect my phone to my office WiFi, the company firewall warns me of frequent port scanning from my home IP.

If I logout the TAPO app from my tp-link account on my phone, the port scanning stops immediately.

So it seems that one of the three cameras I have at home is scanning the network where the TAPO app is located.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out and for the detailed description. This is a very helpful observation.

Based on your description, it is very likely that your company’s firewall has a stricter security policy, which is why you are seeing this warning. Here is what is actually happening:

When your phone is connected to your office Wi-Fi, the Tapo App is in a remote environment (not on the same local network as your cameras). To find and connect to the cameras at your home, the App needs to scan  IP addresses and ports. This is a normal part of the App’s remote access mechanism.

If you have any further questions, you are also welcome to contact local support for further assistance.
