Recently bought a fancy new router and want to put my old Archer CR700 into bridge mode so it functions exclusively as a modem.

Unfortunately, every time I do that the router loses its connection to the internet.

Currently I'm making do by turning the wireless off on the Archer CR700 so it doesn't get distracted by routing duties. But I'd prefer to turn off its router functionality entirely.

Does anyone have any advice about how to fix this? Or do I need to cut ties with TP-LINK entirely and go buy a new modem?

@GrimlocksMum  I did have this same issue.   The trick was to have the router and the modem connected together, then pull the power on the modem, then unscrew the cable connection, wait 2 minutes, reconnect the cable connection and re-power the modem.     It has to do with the router registering the MAC connection of the modem differently because the modem went from router mode to bridge mode
