Model: HS220
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

We just connected the dimmer switch today to control 4 recessed led ceiling lights in the living room, but when we dim them just a bit, the lights flicker.

Is this switch not compatible with newer/multiple led lights???

Any suggestions?

I am also having similar issues with the HS220 smart dimming switch. I installed the switch following the instructions in the KASA app connecting all the wires as instructed.

The light bulbs that i choose to use were the Feit LED Chandelier Bulb Soft White, the specs are:

  • 300 Lumens E12 Base
  • 40W Replacement
  • Actual Watts Used 3.3
  • Life Hours 15,000
  • Energy Star® Dimmable

Are there certain LED wattage or type of bulb I should try? These ones do not dim at all.

@Marsh @GMONEY

The flickering can happen as a result of three things:

-Using bulbs not compatible with dimmers
-The outlet the smart switch is installed on is not 120V/60Hz, 60Hz in important or flickering/buzzing will happen
-Mixing bulbs of a different brand can cause compatibility issues giving a flicker or buzz

I just installed the HS220 in a 120v/60hz '4 can' kitchen light circuit and my CREE bulbs buzz at any dimmed level. What bulbs are compatible?

@Burkhale

What is the minimum and maximum wattage on those bulbs?  Also do you have the specific model number?

I have a similar situtation. New HS220, controlling a single 100W LED fixture. Doesn't buzz at full power or below about 10%, but between 10% and 90% the fixture buzzes quite noticably.

My light is a chandelier with integrated LED driver and LEDs, the Kuzco Oros CH94829 ( https://kuzcolighting.com/product/ch94829-oros/ )

@Marsh ... I have the same issue. Was there any resolution to this? I put these switches throughout my house during a remodel and I have this issue now on all lights controlled by them. Pretty frustrating.

@Marsh I also have the same issue with mine. I'm using the Luminus dimmable bulbs from Costco.

@Marsh

I was told by a friend that he had the same issue and started testing different bulbs. He came across Ecofit and AmazonBasic bulbs that apparently work without any buzzing. I cannot confirm that any of these work., but I'll buy some Amazon ones today and post if they work. He said the AmazonBasics 100W equivalent dimmable A19 bulbs if anyone is also interested in trying.

@Kyleslaw strange, but I just noticed that all of my lights have stopped flickering! We made no changes. I'm curious if there was a recent firmware update... planning on checking into that. But, regardless of why, I'm happy with the result. I'll update the thread if things change or if I find the cause of the improvement.
