Model: Archer C3150
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 3.0.0 0.9.1 v005f.0 Build 170926 Rel.63400n

This may get wordy I've been working at this for 6+ hours now so bear with me.  I have a C7 1750 that would drop connection to my wireless devices and to my Xbox and would need to be reset more and more frequently.  I purchased a 3150 that just came in today.  I've been setting it up and did a speed test on my Xbox to see what my down and up speeds were.  I'm getting anything from 8.xx to 9.xx Mbps down and 9.xx up.  My internet speed is 100 down 25 up.  I took the cable (CAT6) out of the router and plugged it into the Xbox One and got 90-100 Mbps down and 24 Mbps up.  Don't get me wrong I'm able to play and everything fine but updating or downloading updates are SLOW.  I've tested downloading a game both through the router wired and directly to the Xbox.  I'll be lucky to hit 10Mbps download through the router and I'll get anything from 50-130Mbps download directly plugged in.  I've done speed tests on my iPhone and Macbook Pro and I'll get the same 10 down 10 up wireless that I get wired directly to the Xbox.  App updates are slow too on my phone.

I've tried port triggering and adding my Xbox IP address to DMZ and that had no effect.

I've tried adding a high priority to the Xbox through QoS (although I've been told to disable QoS, but I don't see an option for that in my interface) and increasing priorities to high for everything.

I've updated the firmware.

I've tried to aggreggate two ports to increase speed.  With everything listed above nothing has changed the download speed except for taking the router out of the equation.

It feels like there is a setting in the router that is limiting everything wired or wireless to 10 down 10 up.  Any ideas or should I just return the router?

Under "Advanced/QoS/Application Priority" choose Standard and under "Advanced/QoS/Device Priority" set everything to Priority disabled. Usually, after a restart the speed should return to normal.
Is a known QoS related bug in C3150 firmware (and other routers firmware, e.g. topic "C5400X - Internet Speed issue")

Thank you for the reply.  That didn't help though.

@Twobby

Go to Advanced > Security > Settings, make sure DoS protection is turned off.

Another thing to try is to re-upload the latest firmware on the Archer C3150 router.

For your C7, does the wired connection give you the expected speed?

The DoS is off.  I tried the latest firmware and the previous firmware.

The C7 is getting ~90 down 23 up.  I returned the 3150.  This stuff should work right out of the box.

With so many variables, ISPs, data rates, end user equipment and deployment enviroments there will some times be a need to customize settings to ensure a device works properly.  Also depending on the manufacture date some devices will need an updates made to the firmware.  We do make every attempt to have devices work out of the box, just sometimes it does require some human interaction.

There was a time when TP Link routers used to work right out of the box, without constant reboots, resets and stuff...
Maybe Tp-Link should start listening its customers and act accordingly.
As for the C3150 and others, the QoS/half speed, freezing and other issues are known for quite some time (more than a year?). No firmware yet to address any of the bugs...
BTW, C3150 was advertised&sold as a wave 2 router (no longer mentioned on the product page...). Till now there is still no trace of the true wave 2 firmware.
That's just my two cents.

@Twobby

This may not solve the OP's issue, but I came across this thread while trying to troubleshoot a similar issue on my MSI laptop, I had my internet capped at 10mbps, but could get 180+ with a direct connection to the modem.   Turns out that MSI laptops ship with the Killer Control App from Killer Networks, which was artificially throttling my internet speeds.  Posting this info to save whoever needs it a few weeks of troubleshooting.
