Model: TL-WN725N
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

So I'm lost. I'm good with computer and usually figure out driver & device compatability issues without much problem.

I've spent days on my current issues. I'm going to lay out what I'm currently facing as well as give some information on what I've done so far to combat the issue.

OS: Windows 10 Pro v1903 x64 system

WiFi Adapter: TL-WN725N V1

Network Adapter: Realtek RTL8188CU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0

Driver for Network (WiFi) Adapter: rtwlanu_oldlC.sys

Realtek WLAN USB NDIS Driver 28199

File & Product version: 1027.4.630.2015

Second adapter driver: Virtual Wireless Bus Driver (Microsoft OS)

File & Product verson: 10.0.18362.1

Alright, so I got the basic information out of the way. So here's my main issue.

I can't maintain a stable connection to the default gateway. I have to disable and enable my WiFi adapter every 2-3mins, or run troubleshooter.

I have changed and reverted all configs for the device itself & it's profiles.

I've uninstalled all system files for the adapter and WiFi profiles, and restalled.

I've reinstalled all drivers & updated fully.

I've reset my modem/router and no change, all other devices connected have great connection and speed.

I've changed ethernet settings & disabled the adapter as well

I've completed a ipconfig renew, release, dns flush & drive reset through both powershell & command prompt

It was working perfectly before Win 10 build 1903 was updated for my system 3 days ago. Now it hardly works.

My computer nor the programs provided for TP-Link will recongnize my WiFi adapter, it will only show and register the Realtek Network Adapter.

Any ideas what could be causing this? I'm unsure of where to go from here.

@John_C

The issue may be that there was never offical compatiblity for the TL-WN725N V1 with windows 10.  The chipset maker may have made one but TP-Link never confrimed the V1 of this adapter would work with Windows 10.  Also it has been seen that each time MS updates Windows 10 there is always a chance current drivers will not work or have issues.   In situations like that the Chipset make in this case realtek will have to look at the cause and develop a solution for that chipset.  Since we do not give offical support for Windows 10 the best solution would be to check with Realtek if this particualr chipset will recieve an update for the new Windows 10 build.

Hi @John_C ! I'd recommend you to get new Network Adapter (i use TL-WN725N V2 and it's good). Tp-link have a great chart about Windows 10 Compatibility for TP-Link network adapters.

https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/download/tl-wn725n/v1/?utm_medium=select-local#Driver - your adapter

https://www.bestadvisers.co.uk/usb-wifi-adapters and https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/adapter/tl-wn725n/#overview - TL-WN725N V2 adapter

https://www.tp-link.com/my/win10compatibility.html - Windows 10 Compatibility for TP-Link network adapters

Good luck!
