We have a dedicated cell phone for internet use at home, using its hotspot for WiFi. My plan was to use the extenders throughout the house to boost the hotspots coverage . I tried setting it up through following the instructions but couldn't get it to work, is this possible or do I just mess up somewhere?

Hotspot Wi-Fi wireless encryption is not uniform so we could not say RE would 100% work with a Hotspot Wi-Fi. But RE should be able to connect to a Hotspot Wi-Fi with commonly used wireless securities and channels. ( 2.4Ghz Band Hotspot: Channel 1-11 ;5Ghz Band Hotspot: Channel 36/40/44/48 are recommended )

May I know the model and hardware version of your RE?
Was RE able to see the hotspot Wi-Fi during the set-up? What is the model of your phone and how about the LED status on RE after the set-up?
