Model: RE650
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.9 Build 20201112 Rel. 66232(8583)

Hello! I'm puzzled. I just purchased a new modem and EERO 6 dual-band mesh wifi system for my house. It only broadcasts a 5g signal. My Traeger grill only works with a 2.4g connection...so... I set up my Wifi Extender to broadcast a 5 and 2.4 signal per Application Scenario 3 https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/707/ but the grill still doesn't connect to it.

As a test, I turned off cell signal on my phone and connected to the 2.4 wifi signal and I could search Google so I know/think the 2.4 signal is working. Why do you think my grill won't connect to it? (It worked fine with my previous modem and wireless router.)

Hello@gail-

We have an instruction that may help resolve ' wireless devices unable to connect to Wi-Fi extender' concern , please check out thread here for details:
[Troubleshooting]  Unable to Connect to WiFi Extender Saying Incorrect Password

  • Confirm extender has been set up successfully. And  the WiFi led on RE650,  either 2.4Ghz / 5Ghz LED should light up on the Range extender first
  • Check other devices like phone or laptop could connect to Extender Wi-Fi
  • You may disable 5Ghz on main router and see if the 'Traeger grill' could connect to main router 2.4Ghz wifi? If not, try to contact Grill support for more suggestions.
  • Connect to extender Wi-Fi using router’s Wi-Fi password(as extender will use a the same wifi password as router after successfully installation )
  • Try to set use an SSID for RE which is different from router to help isolate the issue

If still the same, may I know could other device connect to RE extender WiFi, what is the model of Traeger grill, and what is the error message ?
