Hey rick2000.  Bummer you had to go through the RMA process just to find out it was a firmware issue.  I was close to the same situation you were in, but never did the RMA because I found this forum in time.  A couple of days later, I received an email from Technical Support, alerting me of the beta firmware and to try it out. I already did and it fixed the problem, but I thanked them.   It is understandable that there would be some lag time between what appears to be a fix and the time it gets to the front line first tier phone support team.  In the future, if I ever have router problems (fingers crossed it does not happen, because the signal strength and other available user options on my Tp-Link AX has been superior to other experiences), in parallel with calling phone support I will also search the forums.

@Dbam99

The tier one agents were useless. They had me changing wifi settings, stuff that had nothing to do with the wan connection to the modem. A tier two agent had me changing the DNS settings... on the LAN! I don't have any dns servers on my LAN, so I went ahead and changed the DNS servers on the Internet side of things. They gave me the Google servers, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Did not fix the problem. Only this beta firmware seems to have fixed the problem. Maybe the timing of my router's problems was unfortunate, but I sure wasted a lot of time on strange "fixes."

As we can see from this forum and others, this firmware issue seems to have caused a widespread WAN disconnect issue at the router across many models.  Prior to this common theme, it is my understanding that a variety of unrelated disconnect issues in the past were caused by things such as ISP conflicts (thus the suggestion to change DNS servers), glitches (factory reset needed), and other settings issues.  So, when technical support made these suggestions prior to everyone being informed of the firmware issue, they were just going off of a script related to what had solved previous disconnect issues for some folks.

I don't see my router version on that list. Is there a beta firmware update for the AX4400? I've been having wifi issues sort of similar to what other people have posted about their routers.

Hello @User1357, the developer didn't provide a beta firmware for Archer AX4400, but don't worry, the new official firmware is on the way, you should be able to detect it in one day or two, please check it later.

@Kevin_Z

Just got the new firmware update: 2.1.5 Build 20211231 rel 73898(5553) for my ax21 v2.0.  It installed without problems.  I tested the scheduled reboot function and it worked.  I'll give it a few more tests and get back if there are any issues with internet drops or scheduled reboot.  The beta was working fine since I installed it.  Didn't experience any internet drops or scheduled reboot problems.

@Kevin_Z Just stumbled on this thread. A new AX1800 installed earlier this month (January 2022) has not been able to maintain internet access. Today (27 Jan) I logged in to the router and performed a firmware update. The version is shown as 1.3.5 Build 20211231 rel.64080(5553) . I downloaded ax1800v2-US-up-ver2-1-2-P8[20210901-rel75450]_beta_20220117.bin today

and attempted to perform a manual update. The update failed.

By the way, I had opened a case with tech support early this month due to failures to maintain internet access. I called in this morning when access was not available. The support person said nothing about a firmware upgrade being necessary. This is the first place I've seen that acknowledges there is an issue with maintaining access.

I did a firmware check today and let the router download and install the updated official firmware itself and everything is working fine. Give that a try, instead of manually downloading the beta firmware.

@rick2000

I had done a firmware update this morning via the Advanced option to arrive at this version: 1.3.5 Build 20211231 rel.64080(5553). Are you saying that this version corrects the failure to maintain internet access?
