Model: TL-SG116
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

I am implementing a security camera system that will use 4 POE+ ports of my new "10 Port Gigabit Easy Smart PoE+ switch". (The model is actually TL-SG1210MPE but that isn't available in the pick list when creating this post.) My question: I want to house this switch in a 1 cubic foot steel wall cabinet. These cabinets all have small vent holes on the sides, and they come in glass door and vented door styles. The question: Will it get too hot in the cabinet without a large vented door? This switch packaging claims "silent operation" which I assume means it has no fan. Thanks for your advice.

Gary

  @GaryMK

Your model is actually considered a Business Class Product, that is why it was not available in the dropdown here. If you want specifics for the model, you will need to reach out on the SMB forums.

However, It looks like your operating temperature is only 104 degrees which you may be able to reach relatively quickly in a closed environment. If the cabinet is designed to provide adequate air movement for electronics it may be fine. Your ultimate indicator will be the actual temperature in the cabinets, as there are so many different types of media cabinets mean to do what you are trying to accomplish and some perform far better than others.

Furthermore, due to the PoE Functionality, I would ultimately avoid placing it in the cabinet, as there will no doubt be additional heat transfer when using the PoE functionality.
