Model: TL-WA901ND
Hardware Version: V20
Firmware Version: Newest

I just purchased a TP-LINK AXE7800 router and  TP-LINK TLWA 3001 access point to create a strong network signal so that I can install wifi security cameras around the property.  I have a large house with three floors.  The main floor I placed the AXE7800 router and on the basement floor the access point. I contacted them through a cat 7 ethernet cable. I access point mode it has a strong signal but creates a different ssid. The cameras all have to be on the same network. When I set it up in range extender mode it also asks to set up a different ssid basically the same as router plus ext on the end. If I conect to access point Lan port and turn off DHCP and use the same IP address as router with different client ID, will that give me one network to connect to that is strongest signal or should I use another AXE7800 router instead of the access point?

Even with a different SSIDs the cameras would be on the same network.

Or if you want to you can set TL-WA3001 SSID the same as your main router.

TL-WA3001 DHCP server should be OFF for sure.

Apart from that any wireless router can be used in AP mode - details.

You can use it in either mode but in AP mode TL-WA3001 will give you best bandwidth and stability.

@terziiyski I just realized that the TL-WA3001 does not have a lan port only Wan port. Should I still do the same thing, by connecting it bye cat 7 directly, use it in access point mode and turn of DHCP and make sure ip address is the same as router with different client id.

actually that's a LAN port, because this device is a dedicated access point.

And yes, its DHCP server off, and LAN IP address within the same subnet as your main router, i.e.:

If your main router LAN IP address is 192.168.1.1 then TL-WA3001 LAN IP address should be 192.168.1.254 (for example).
