"create local account" password screen does not have a keyboard
Trying to set up this range extender. On my smartphone I get to the screen on Tether to set up a local password to manage my device. However, no keyboard shows up to enter a password. There is no way to enter a password. What do I do now?

That's certainly odd - the Tether app shouldn't prevent your smartphone's keyboard from appearing when an input field is selected.
Just a few questions so we can better understand your circumstances:
1. Does this happen every time?
2. Have you tried force-stopping/closing the Tether app and relaunching it to see if the symptom persists?
3. Have you tried restarting the phone (if, by chance, the on-screen keyboard itself is the culprit)?

@McLean I have the exact same problem. I ended up typing things into notes then copying and pasting. Note when setting up the initial extender password, I had to enter the confirmation password first, then the first one. If I did it "normally", the second password had garbage in it and I had to start over. I'm pretty annoyed at this point. SOMEONE shuold have tested the app. I'm on an iPhone 13pro with latest updates.
