Model: Archer AX72 Pro
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.5 Build 20250928 rel.17568(5553)

Network Information:

Router: Archer AX72 Pro V1.0

Firmware Version:  1.4.5 Build 20250928 rel.17568(5553)

ISP: Charter Spectrum

I've done the current tests:

Different Ethernet cable.

Tried version 1.4.2

Reset router (3 times)

Tried different DNS

Tried Modem Directly to PC.

QOS at lower settings.

Summarization of Issue:

Before update  Ping during speed test in particular stayed stable around 30 ms during up and down.

After update:  Ping jumps slightly during download but mostly stable.  During upload it jumps from 30 - 1800 ms.

I know there is buffer bloat on my network directly but, with the previous update it was mitigated perfectly.

Looking through the forums I noticed the AX55 V1 had a similar issue with a firmware update shown here: https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/threads/topic/843210

I believe this is a firmware issue similar and wanted to provide the information.

@CinematicVision It sounds like the NAT boost is taking priority over the software QoS. When you see upload latency spike to 1800ms despite QoS being on, it means the router is bypassing the CPU's traffic shaper entirely and sending packets at line rate, filling the modem's buffer. The new firmware might have enabled flow acceleration to improve max throughput numbers, inadvertently breaking QoS queue management.

Some things to try:

  1. Set your QoS upload limit to 1 mbps and run a speed test. If your upload speed is still higher than 1 mbps, it confirms the router is ignoring your QoS settings.

  2. Check Advanced > System Tools > System Parameters. If you see an option for NAT boost, disable it. This forces traffic through the CPU and usually restores QoS functionality (at the cost of slightly higher CPU usage).

If NAT boost is missing or the 1 mbps test fails, you will likely need beta firmware, similar to the fix released for the AX55 V1.

  @abermuffin

Hello yes, the speeds are affected but the ping remains unstable.  There also is not a nat boost options.

Edit: Tested again with the QOS of 1 mbps for uplod again like suggested and the download is limited like normal but the upload stalls before it boosts to maximum of my plan ignoring QOS.
