Model: Deco BE63
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.3.2

Im having problems with the wireless connection on a BE63. I set up the Deco about a year ago. I was working fine at first but lately I noticed times when the internet was slow. We have two BE63 devices but I've done testing with just the main one active and the problem still exists. The main symptom is that I have dropped packets when I ping the Deco. If I run a continuous ping to the Deco (192.168.68.1), I can get response times between 3ms and over 1000ms, with some dropped packets. Other times the signal seems OK with no dropped packets.

Test device: Windows 11 Pro Dell Laptop with the latest updates. Testing after a fresh reboot.

Suggestions for ways to diagnose the problem?

  @NewEngland

Hi,
You may try disabling the Fast Roaming and Beamforming features, and selecting High Capacity on More > Advanced > Wireless Network Mode to see whether they help in your case.

Please confirm the following information for further analysis if the same phenomenon persists.
  1. When you connect your laptop to the main Deco via an Ethernet cable and disable the Wi-Fi function on it, do you have a stable connection with the main Deco?
  2. When your laptop connects to the main Deco via Wi-Fi, is it connected to the main, guest, or IoT network? At 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, or 6 GHz?
  3. Do all wireless clients encounter the same phenomenon?

Best Regards

Fast Roaming was already disabled. I disabled Beamforming. I can't find the setting for High Capacity. It's not in Advasnced.

1. When you connect your laptop to the main Deco via an Ethernet cable and disable the Wi-Fi function on it, do you have a stable connection with the main Deco?

Connecting via ethernet is a solid connection with 1-2ms response time and no lost packets.

2. When your laptop connects to the main Deco via Wi-Fi, is it connected to the main, guest, or IoT network? At 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, or 6 GHz?

I am connecting to th main network. It looks like it's connected at 6GHz.

3. Do all wireless clients encounter the same phenomenon?

We have noticed slow internet on several devices, iPad, Android tablet, phones. I haven't performed ping tests on all of these, though.

Update: I noticed a new firmware, BE63(US)_V2.6_1.3.3 Build 26071612. I just installed it and will monitor to see if solves the problem.

Thanks.

  @Solla-topee

Update: I installed the latest firmware and tested at several locations in the house. The speed seems to be good everywhere. Not sure if the firmware fixed something or if it was the reboot. I'll continue to monitor over the next few days to see if the problem returns.

Thanks.
