Model: Archer BE800
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.4 Build 20250414 rel.18315(4153)

Hello there,

I recently installed an Archer BE800 and am encountering an issue with the 6 GHz network:

  • Device: ROG Phone 9 Pro (Wi‑Fi 7, Android 15)

  • SSID: “SSID_6G”

  • My phone connects to SSID_6G, but status shows “connected without internet”

  • The Tether app sees the BE800 but fails to connect to it.

Troubleshooting & observations:

  • If the 6 GHz channel width is set to 320 MHz, the phone connects but has no internet access.

  • When I change the channel width to 20/40/80/160 MHz, the phone connects properly and regains internet.

  • I expected Wi‑Fi 7 hardware like the ROG Phone 9 to support 320 MHz. However, it seems likely that despite using 320 MHz, the phone or router may fallback to 160 MHz—this pattern aligns with posts indicating BE800 and client devices defaulting to 160 MHz even when 320 MHz is enabled

  • There could be regional or firmware-based regulatory limitations affecting full-width channel availability .

My questions:

  1. Is this behavior expected due to a router-side limitation—that is, does the BE800 force 320 MHz in a way that breaks backward compatibility with devices that can only use up to 160 MHz?

  2. Could Asus Rog Phone driver or firmware be causing it to connect but drop data at 320 MHz?

  3. Are there software updates available (router firmware or Tether app) that add smoother fallback to 160 MHz when non‑full‑width clients connect?

  4. Is there a recommended configuration for BE800 in mixed-device environments to ensure stable internet access for both full Wi‑Fi 7 and Wi‑Fi 6E clients?

Thank you for your guidance. If you need additional logs, screenshots, or sysinfo, I’m happy to provide them.

@NickyChung I separated the MLO channel from the 2.4 ,5,and 6 which are all the same SSID.  I put the WIFI7 clients on the MLO, all the rest on the main SSID.

@DVair Thank you for your reply. I followed your recommendation to set up my SSID accordingly. Interestingly, the connection works for about one minute but then gets blocked again. Both MLO and non-MLO channel are unable to access the internet after that.

@NickyChung Might want to reset the router to Factory defaults and then recreate your network settings.  Sometimes after a firmware upgrade this makes things work better.

@DVair  The factory reset resolved the issue, but only temporarily.

Immediately after the reset, I was able to successfully connect to the WiFi 7 network on the 6 GHz band at 5764 Mbps, which was encouraging.

However, after the router had been running for around 24 hours, I tried connecting again and suddenly lost internet access. It seems the issue lies with the 6 GHz band — when the connection is stable, my phone shows 5 GHz, but when it connects via 6 GHz, it indicates a connection without internet access.

I have started to suspect that the hardware I recently purchased from the vendor might be a version 1 model, which could be causing this instability.

Additionally, the MLO connection is extremely unstable, sometimes reaching only a few hundred Mbps on 5 GHz, while the 6 GHz band fails to provide internet access.

@NickyChung Is it just the phone that is having an issue or other devices also?  I have the BE800 hardware version 1, I have 2 computers and a phone that use MLO, everything else is on the 5 GHz except for my printer which is 2.4.  All connect with no issues.
