It appears I cannot switch channels BUT is this a possible option?
Notes: The hardware version on the bottom of my mesh router indicates US/1.6
The firmware version info was obtained from the Arlo app
Question: I am trying to determine if I can manually set (choose) the channel used by my 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks. In following the currently produced directions to accomplish this, the option to manually choose a channel does NOT appear to be an option for me using the equipment I have.
When I look at network traffic on WiFi Analyzer, there is a lot of congestion on the 2.4 ghz channel choosen by the system (ch 6). There are some other channels that I consistenly note having far less traffic and I need to move my broadcast of the 2.4ghz network to another channel.
If I cannot choose the channel for my 2.4 ghz network given the current mesh routers I have (I have a set of three mesh routers), it appears in reading the documentation that if I purchased a newer router AND used it as the new router main router AND that new router supported manually setting broadcast channels for the 2.4 ghz and 5ghz networks then the three existing mesh routers I own would support the channel selection I make.
Am I reading the documentation correctly - is this possible?
Just to restate, this would mean my three current mesh routers would be working under a new(er) mesh router. Will the old routers support whatever channel the newest mesh router tells it to?
Thanks.
