Tether app under security shows web protection as enabled, but fails to display new sites with issues. The count of sites has remained unchanged for awhile, while I know the TV can generate entries (innocuous). This occurs when accessing through different devices. 

 

It appears the web protection may be operational, but sites and counts are not being updated- though this is difficult to determine since the display is static.

It looks like your Tether app shows Web Protection as enabled under Security, but the site count and blocked site entries aren't updating, even though you expect your TV to generate some entries.

 

When the Web Protection feature is active but no online threats are being detected, no new entries will be logged and the count will remain unchanged. The static display doesn't necessarily mean the feature has stopped working — it may simply mean that the network traffic being monitored hasn't triggered any security alerts.

A few points to keep in mind:

• If the sites your TV is accessing are considered safe/innocuous (as you mentioned), Web Protection would not flag or record them, since it is designed to detect and log potential threats rather than all browsing activity.
• If the feature was recently adjusted or re-enabled, it may also take some time before new activity is logged.

To ensure everything is functioning properly, please make sure both your router firmware and the Tether app are up to date, and periodically review the Security settings to confirm the feature remains enabled and configured correctly.

hi Joseph,

 

The TP Link identification of malicious sites is fairly aggressive. There is no way the number of sites blocked should be static over months. So sadly, your suggestions are not helpful. The router was hard booted and has the latest firmware.
