Model : Archer C5400

Hardware Version : 2.0

Firmware Version : 1.2.2 Build 20170912 rel.56240(5553)

ISP : Comcast

I'm having a problem using the external hard drive that I have attached to my AC5400 router. I have it plugged into the USB 2.0 port and have set it up so it is shared on my LAN and I can also use it as a poor man's NAS. The problem is that the folder name that is assigned by the AC5400 appears to randomly change between "sda1" and "sdb1". Obviously, this prevents the computers on the LAN from seeing it until I re-map the network drive.

Any ideas on how to remedy this situation so I don't have to constantly remap the drive?? Thanks for any help and /or suggestions.

Disable sharing all and select the volumes which you need to share.
Then, select all manually and rename for each volume.
after that, they won't be the default names any more.

Not too sure about this suggestion since I want to have the entire drive with all of its folders and sub-folders available to my network and accessible. Any other possible alternatives?? Thanks . . .

On my C7 if I use Share All it doesn't work correctly , however if I use the method veildcs mentions above in post no#2 .. sharing a volume (which can be the whole drive) it does.

so worth a try I'd say....
