To ensure that the device’s state can always be determined, the colors available are limited to the cooler colors shown above. For example, the traditional meanings of the Tapo D225's LED can be found below:

Solid Red Starting Up
Blinking Red and Green Ready for Setup

Solid Amber Connected to Wi‑Fi
Solid White (or Color) Connected to Cloud
Blinking Red Quickly Doorbell Resetting
Blinking White Quickly Doorbell Updating
Blinking Amber Quickly for 3 Seconds Charging the Doorbell

  • Always On
  • Always Off
  • Auto-On – Automatically turns on when an event is detected, or when you are watching live view.

Can I Change the Brightness of the LED?

Yes, the brightness of the LED can be changed by going to Device Settings > Spotlight, where you can set the brightness on a scale of 1 to 5.

Why Does My Doorbell’s LED Appear to Pulse or Change Brightness?

When you use a Tapo doorbell that supports radar detection, it has an added feature to help draw the attention of guests and visitors as they approach.

  1. When the doorbell detects Motion, the LED will turn on as expected.
  2. When a Person is detected, the doorbell will begin to slowly 'breathe' or change its brightness.
  3. As the visitor gets closer to the doorbell, the LED will breathe faster for a more engaging experience and to catch their eye.
  4. Once the doorbell is rung, the LED will quickly pulse.
