According to the support webpage, Tapo H200 Hub v1 has an available firmware update to 1.7.1 which fixes some issues Ive experienced.

 

However, the Tapo app refuses to find it, always saying the Hub is up to date at 1.6.1

 

Is there a way to force a firmware update for these devices?

New firmware is typically released using a gradual rollout (phased release). This means the update is first sent to a small percentage of devices, and the rollout percentage is gradually increased over time until it reaches all devices. Therefore, if your device isn’t detecting the new version yet, that’s completely normal. The rollout will continue to expand, so please be patient.
