The Tapo D260 is our most recent doorbell released, offering significantly higher video quality and more accurate detections – all the while offering features new to Tapo such as Voice Masking, aerial views, pre-roll recording* and Voice Masking.
4K Live View with 180°DFOV: Details matter. From a visitor's face to what they're carrying or left on the porch. 4K and a wide 180° view capture it all with fewer blind spots and less guesswork.
Know What Matters
Motion Detection That Matters: Dual motion sensors and precise radar detection spot real activity at your door while reducing false alerts from swaying branches and shadows. Detect beyond your doorway with an aerial view of the action.
See the Path Visitors Followed: Tapo’s new aerial view gives you an at-a-glance view of the path visitors took – giving you a better idea of where your detections are occurring.

Knows Who's There: Create a library for family, friends, and frequent visitors with facial recognition. Tapo D260 identifies who’s at your door and distinguishes familiar faces from strangers, so you know who’s there before you check.**
AI Detection, No Strings Attached: Know what’s there without paying an extra dime. People, animals, vehicles, or packages: pick the alerts that matter and ignore the rest.
Stay in Control
Doorbell Calls with Voice Masking: Get a doorbell call when someone rings your Tapo D260 and use voice masking to protect your identity so you can respond safely and confidently to unknown visitors.

Dual-Band Wi-Fi Connectivity: Your D260 can take advantage of the faster 5GHZ Wi-Fi Networks nearby, or can use 2.4GHz for its extended range – keeping your video seamless and lag-free.
Get the Story You Want with Always-On Mode*
(Only Available When Hardwired with a Constant Power Supply)
Pre-Roll Footage helps you to see the events that matter, even before motion is detected. When enabled, you will be able to see an added 4 seconds of footage leading up to an event – allowing you to see approaching visitors, before they reach your detection zones.
24/7 Continuous Recording, ONVIF / RTSP Compatibility
Supports Both Battery and Hardwire Power Options
Battery Option
If you are not looking to replace an existing doorbell, or are looking for a more lightweight installation – you can use the built-in battery for power.
- When the battery is low, you will need to detach the mount and charge it manually.
- You cannot use a hardwired chime in this mode. You will need a Tapo Hub or compatible voice assistant speaker.
Note: Some features, such as 24/7 Continuous Recording, Preroll Footage, and Networked Video Streams, are not available in this mode.
Hardwired Options
If you have an existing wired (not battery-powered) doorbell, you can likely use the power supply for the older doorbell. The transformer providing the power must be capable of providing 8-24V AC, 10VA Minimum.
When hardwired, you have two mode options – one that continues to rely on the battery and another for a more constant supply of power:
- Always-On Mode for Hardwired High-Current Power Supply (Similar to Wired Cameras)
- Charging Mode for Hardwired Low-Current Charging Only (Similar to Battery Cameras)

Common Questions
Does the Tapo D260 Come with a Wireless External Chime?
No, the Tapo D260 does not come with a wireless external chime. If you are in need of a chime, we would recommend looking at either the H100 or the H200. These hubs have built-in speakers and are capable of being paired with a doorbell or door lock. You may also consider using a Smart Speaker such as Google Home or Alexa to act as your device's chime.
Are events on the Tapo D260 triggered via PIR (Infrared) or Radar?
The Detection method will depend on what configuration you are using the doorbell in, along with the settings you have selected in the app. There are options in the Tapo App under Detection > Wake-Up Sensitivity> Precise Detection. When the doorbell is in Always-On Mode, the camera is always 'awake' - meaning the PIR is not used and Radar features are used mainly for aerial views.
Your doorbell uses two sensors to detect motion:
- PIR (Passive Infrared): detects body heat and movement.
- Radar: detects motion using radio waves for higher accuracy.
When Configuring Wake Sensitivity for Charging and Battery-Based Option:
Radar is always on. It remains active in both settings and can wake the camera on its own.
When Precise Detection is ON - If PIR detects first: radar must confirm before the camera wakes. If radar does not confirm, the camera stays asleep. If radar detects first: the camera wakes. (Detection Area: slightly narrower; Alerts and Battery: Fewer unwanted alerts and better battery life.)
When Precise Detection is OFF - If PIR detects first: the camera wakes immediately. If radar detects first: the camera wakes. (Detection area: wider; Alerts and battery: more unwanted alerts possible and higher battery use.)
