First off, sorry I do not know how to get model, hardware and firmware versions. I have a 2.5 internet connection but when checking connection speeds upload is always poor. Speed test from router shows 1900/2000 up and down speeds(Tuf gaming ax6000). Test on computer is 1700 down but only 700/800 up. To me this means a setting in the tx201 must be wrong but I have no idea which one to change. Any ideas

Hi,

There is no setting on the TX201 that would affect the speed like that. It should work at 2.5 Gbps in both directions by default.

Can you try some other speedtest websites for comparison?

Also make sure there is nothing activated on the ASUS router that could limit speeds of connected client devices in any way. (e.g. make sure QoS for client devices is off)

@woozle  Than you for the reply. I have tried a number of test sites here in New Zealand and the upload is always slow.  As for the router, i have QoS turned off but I just do not known enough about all this to know what the settings should be. Yes a am a noob at all this. Do you know anything about tuf gaming ax6000>

Hi, Thanks for the feedback.

If you would like to further cooperate with us, I would like to follow up on your case via email and ask the senior engineer for further advice.

Please check whether you can receive my email later.

Best regards.

@AG_Ironsfan  update. Have just run a 1GB file transfer test from computer to usb on the router. When transferring from router to computer, the rate was 13.8/14 MB/s however when going from computer to usb on the router it was only 3.8/4 MB/s. What does this tell you. I am a learner at all this.

What are the file transfer speeds you get from that USB drive when it's plugged into an USB port of your computer? (i.e. copy files between USB drive and hard disk)

Regarding the Internet speed issue. I think any PC made within the last decade or so must have had an onboard Gigabit (1000 Mbps) network card. If yours has one too, then what Internet speeds do you get when you hook up the TUF AX6000 to the PC's onboard Gigabit NIC? Does that one get you approximately 940 Mbps download and 940 Mbps upload speed?

@woozle hi, the speed test when connected to the onboard 1gig nic is download 941.16 and upload is 914.78.

The 1GB file transfer from usb to computer happened that fast, I was unable to read the transfer speed. From computer to usb was 414/430Mbps

Ok, so the Gigabit onboard NIC manages 914 Mbps upload speed, which is about the technical limit for a 1 Gigabit Ethernet controller, while the 2.5 Gigabit TX201 only manages 700 to 800 Mbps in the same direction.

I think you should take on David-TP's offer to have an engnineer from TP-Link look at this issue.

And maybe one more piece of information you could provide is the download/upload speeds you get if the TX201 is connected to one of the 1 Gigabit LAN ports of the TUF-AX6000.

@woozle  plugged into 1gig port: down 940.77Mbps and upload 903.90. This is weird. I guess the reply will be it's the 2.5 port causing this problem

Have you already tested the 2.5 G connection using another Ethernet cable?

Cheaply made cables can sometimes also cause problems, even if they were sold with the proper Cat rating.

@woozle yes. I have used two new ca7 cables and a cat6. No change
