Hello
I have bought a new CPE210. After a factory reset I login and disable the wireless, nothing else. After 1 or two hours the device freezes and I cannot ping or reconnect. I've tried different cables and connected at two different parts of my network. I'm at a loss as to how to debug this. Can anyone help?
This is my second unit. The first one behaved the same way which makes me think I'm doing something wrong.
I have the latest V2 FW.

What HW version has the CPE210? What kind of LAN setup do you use? DHCP? Static IP? PC's network settings correct?
I did set up a CPE210 v1, firmware version 2.1.0, wireless adapter disabled. Still running after 2.5 hours:

I do want to set up an AP - Client pair, but found that running AP with 27dbM and even 11dbM wifi the unit stopped communicating as described. So I tried to see if it was due to the wifi settings, so I turned the radio off to see if it became more reliable (but no good for what I wanted).
The device is V2. I have it set up static IP. When running it seems good. Ping times from my PC are in the order of 0.2ms - 1.5ms and connecting to the device via wifi I can get 18Mb/s with an OOKLA speedtest.
I am running a continuous ping test to the unit to see if I can see anything strange in the network times.
I do want to set up an AP - Client pair, but found that running AP with 27dbM and even 11dbM wifi the unit stopped communicating as described. So I tried to see if it was due to the wifi settings, so I turned the radio off to see if it became more reliable (but no good for what I wanted).

How far is it between the AP and Client CPE210? When the AP is set as 27dBm or even 11dBm, does the Client CPE210 just disconnect from the AP? What about the LOS?

To clarify: you have an AP (device #1) connected over WiFi with a client (device #2) and if you disable the WiFi link, you can't ping device #1 from your PC over the LAN of #1 anymore, correct?
Please give us a detailed, unambiguous description of what you are doing exactly and also the network settings of the devices and your PC, otherwise no-one could try to reproduce this.

Sorry to be ambiguous. My aim is to have two CPE210s: An AP (device #1) connected over WiFi with a client (device #2). I have not even connected (nor bought) device #2 yet. My last reply had images but I failed to attach them properly so they didn't appear, I'll try again.
My current system has a single CPE210 configured as an AP with static IP. My Windows7 PC is 192.168.0.9, the internet connects to a router on 192.168.0.1 (which has the DHCP server). The CPE210 is 192.168.0.254. I can connect to the wifi of the router with my phone using DHCP (it is 192.168.0.100) and can do a speedtest no problem (there is only a couple of meters between the phone and the CPE210). I also have a linux box on the network (192.168.0.130).
My first experiment is now do nothing. I regularly look at the webpage via firefox on the windows machine at address 192.168.0.254. I can see the CPE210's webpage until at some point after 30minutes to a few hours the webpage stops loading and times out. At this point all of the LEDs on the CPE210 are on (the LAN LED is flashing like there is traffic) but I cannot connect. My phone tells me that the SSID is still visible but I cannot connect to the wifi either.
My second experiment, I power cycle the CPE210. I ping the CPE210 from the Linux box, every second and the pings reply with a time of around 1ms. I have noticed that after 10-60 minutes the pings take consistently longer: 500ms - 2000ms. At this point the CPE210 is still visible via the webpage and I can connect to the wifi. After another 30-120minutes the pings timeout and I can no longer talk via the webpage or over the wifi.
The third experiment was turning off the wifi just to see whether the wifi was causing the problem but it gave the same results as the first two experiments.
I hope that is clearer.

Ok, now it's clearer. First of all, update the firmware of the CPE210 v2. Latest firmware is TP_PharOS_V2.1.0_170609. I assume you are in the EU? If so, you can download from here (else see your country's TP-Link website):

Next, set the CPE210 to a static IP. You have to find out which IP range is not under control of the DHCP server. For example, if the DHCP start address is 10, use an IP in the range of 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.8 (.9 your PC, .1 the router). If you are sure that 192.168.0.254 is not used in the DHCP address pool, you can also use this IP if you want.
But anyway: set a static IP for the CPE210. Do not use DHCP for stationary devices, it has no real advantage. Of course, you still need DHCP for non-stationary devices such as your SmartPhone connecting to the CPE. But make sure the ranges for static/dynamic IP addresses do not overlap (i.e. set DHCP from .10 to .240 or so).
Only LED labeled LAN is of interest here. If it is on, cable is plugged in. If it blinks in irregular intervals, data is being transferred. Sensitivity LEDs are always on for an AP as is the Power LED.
If the problem still remains, connect the CPE210 directly (via LAN port of the PoE injector) to the Linux box. Set a static IP on the Linux box, too, and test wether it loses connection after a while. If it now works, the cause for the CPE "losing" the IP could be elsewhere in your network.

I am in the US and I have not seen that FW version available on the TP-Link website, only CPE210(UN)_V2_161102 is available. I can see on the EN site TP_PharOS_V2.1.0_170609. Will there be a problem installing the EN version? I guess the power output will be limited?
My static IP is outside the DHCP range.
I like the idea of just plugging into the linux box, I can try that later. I will let you know.

Hi Mark, there is no problem installing the EN version. CPE210 V2.0 of different regions (UN, EU and US) share the same firmware. When your CPE210(US) is updated, the country code will be identified. The updated CPE210(US) still follows FCC rules and regulations. So the power will not change.
