Hello,

I have a TL-SG108E in my office, which is connected on port 1 to a wall socket, which is connected to a patch panel in the basement and this is connected to port 2 of a TL-SG1016DE. I have the problem, that this ports randomly disconnects and so I loose the internet-connection in my office. Randomly means, that I have no problems up to 1 week, but on some days the ports are disabled 5 times in an hour.

To solve the problem, I had to remove the patch-cable of the TL-SG1016DE and connect it again. Sometimes I have to do this several times, until a connection is started again. Removing the patch-cable on the TL-SG108E doesn't help.

When I have the problem, I use a cable-tester and it says, that all wires are connected and shows no error. I try to connect to other ports on both switches, but the problem occurs again.

The TL-SG1016DE shows in "Port Setting" Status = Enabled and Actual = Link Down when the problem occurs.

Has someone a hint, how I can find the cause of this problem?

Thank you in advance.

Matthias

From your description, something like there are something wrong with cable and patch pannel. I suggest you check your network sectionally.
When you meet the issue, please connect your PC to the wall socket directly(please don not power off TL-SG108E).
If this PC are able to access the internet, that is mean your network is working well.
Then connect this PC and another PC to TL-SG108E, use ping command to check connectivity. If they can not ping with each other, the issue is casued by TL-SG108E
