Hello,

i'm using the switch for a while now, bought it in february 2017.
I need the vlan for a sat-2-ip box that is broadcasting all the time and otherwise killing my wireless.

I had a 5 Port Netgear Switch for years, but i needed more ports so i changed to the TP-Link.

The thing is, from time to time it looses the configuration. Not everything, but 802.1Q VLAN PVID Setting and/or 802.1Q VLAN Configuration
You can tell, because the wireless is useless, connected but no throughput. I went mad finding the issue the first time, only realising when the TV was not working.

I can save the config, reboot / unpower, works properly. The switch is on 24/7, but even if it's powerless for a time, the config is saved.

Anyone ever had such an issue? Or is my switch simply damaged.

Kind regards and merry christmas

Could be the famous "Save Config" bug. In older firmware versions, "Save Config" works only if config is saved for the first time after a reboot. While settings can be changed, any "Save Config" after the first one didn't save the settings permanently, so after a reboot or power failure old settings are being loaded again.

Fixed in this firmware version: http://forum.tp-link.com/showthread.php?96183-TL-SG105E-and-TL-SG108E-lose-VLAN-IP-configuration-randomly&p=211892&viewfull=1#post211892

Never mind that the firmware claims to be for HW V3, it also installs on HW V2 and even upgrades your switch to a V3. ;)

Me again.
The Beta Firmware didn't change anything. And even the new 1.0.0 Build 20171214 Rel.70905 does not work properly.
My settings are:

From time to time, when the SAT-2-IP Box stops working, i simply have to change the Memership of VLAN 2 Port 7 beeing Tagged to Untagged or the other way round, click the "Add/Modify" Button and we're good to go for another day/week/month or so.
Than i'll change the setting back and click the "Add/Modify" Button again.
This is ridiculous, thing is, it starts annoying the rest of the family, because television stops working.

Save settings or reboot is not required to get the VLan back to work.

Anyone with a clever solution to that? Otherwise, i'll replace the switch with a different brand, Zyxel or DLink.

Thanks and Happy Easter

Upgrade to latest firmware published in January 2018: TL-SG108E(UN)_V3_20171214, available here: https://static.tp-link.com/2018/201801/20180105/TL-SG108E_V3_20171214.zip

Don't mind that it's firmware V3, it will install also on TL-SG108E v2.

This firmware lets you remove ports from the Default_VLAN 1. Do so with the port your VDR is connected to (I assume it's port 8?). If port 7 is a real trunk - meaning it also handles traffic in VLAN 1 - set it to a tagged VLAN 1 member. You need to use the switch's web UI to do so, not the Config Utility.

Similar issues, ran into the bug R1D2 mentioned. Try this:
- Power Cycle the switch
- Make 802.1q updates to the config
- Go to the main menu on the left and click on Save Config and confirm
- Power cycle one more time to make sure config changes are still there

This worked for me even on V2 hardware with 2016 software version.

Cheers!
