No way, repeater mode just copies and reinforces the existing wireless signal to extend the coverage. It shares the exact same wireless settings as your AP.

Yes: use bridge mode. Only difference between repeater and bridge mode is that the latter lets you change the SSID. This is descibed in detail in the manual, BTW. So, just RTFM.
