CPE210 Reset to Factory default with 8 IP cameras after few days
Hardware Version :
Firmware Version :
ISP :
Settings lost after few days
Model : CPE210
Hardware Version : V2
Firmware Version : [COLOR=#333333]TP_Pharos_V2.1.6_170908
I have 4 CPE210 in my network
#1 configured as AP-Router
#2 configured as Repeater with lock-ap to AP-Router #1
#3 configured as Repeater with lock-ap to AP-Router #1
#4 configured as Repeater with lock-ap to Repeater #3
8 cameras are connected to these CPEs making 2 cameras to a single CPE210 and a receiver is connected to the AP-Router #1
Network is usually stable for 3-5 days, but then some of the Repeaters will lost its configuration and go back to factory default causing some cameras to stop showing images.
I initially though that someone could be acessing the POE adapter and pressing the RESET button, but this is happening in a few different installations we have. We just started to see this issue after expanding the system from 4 cameras to 8 cameras.
The system doesn't have connectivity to the internet, so packages are only sent to local IP addresses. Packages are formed with 4KBytes in a single UDP message (4 per second).
Does anyone have similar issues? I've been using CPE210 for a while and they are very reliable, but with images it became a real nightmare.
Thanks for anyhelp

As i was wiring it, with the equipment still on, I noticed it would quickly charge up with static. If I touched the grounding terminal every 20 or so seconds, it would discharge at me at a very noticeable degree...
i will keep you guys posted, but I feel that indeed all I had to do was RTFM and act as trained personnel when installing something designed to be installed by a trained personnel

The problem seems to be gone! Over 1 month without a reset.
I acted on it as much as I could.
In summary, the actions were:
-Grounding of the power supply
-Grounding of the CPE210
-Changed the ethernet cable to a shielded one
-Installing an access point between CPE210 LAN Port and the Mikrotik Routerboard CPE (WISP equipment).
As theses changes were very time consuming, i could not do them as scientifically as needed to point what has actually solved it...

Might be related to improper power supply or not grounding the CPE. Read the posts above in this thread how others did solve an improper installation.

It looks like you do not have the latest firmware.
One of the improvements of 20190928 version is:
Modifications and Bug Fixes:
1. Fixed the problem that the device may be reset to factory defaults due to unstable power.
Go to your country's tplink support page, then you you might find it.

I have been installing TP Link gear for years including CPE210 and never grouded any of it, ever! I can understand if its attached to a metal shed or something but the init is plastic and its bracket is plastic. I think its a load of nonsense. I have over 100 of these TP Link devides out in the wild and non of them are grounded either, not a single unit has packed up or given any issues even in severe lightning storms. The onle time I had a device reset its self was when a joiner put a nail through my cable one time.
Try upgrade the firmware on your devides should be ok also save the settings then reboot the unit by pulling the PoE out and then login again, if you see it say save settings at the top again then I would just replace the unit. It should save the first time. As for grounding, its a load of bull crap.

@PC-Dude, if the electronic parts of your CPEs are made out of plastic, you should apply for a nobel prize in physics.
For all others using standard electronic components made out of silicium which is highly sensitive to ESD (even to atmospheric ESD as happen in every lightning storm), I suggest to follow the vendor's recommendation for grounding any outdoor equipment:
BTW: I'm pretty sure that the thread opener Kajoo meanwhile found a solution for his problem reported two years ago.
